Today we went to Versailles, just a short drive outside Paris. Deen had arranged a private transfer for both ways and tickets through an agency called France Tourisme. All went as expected. The driver picked us up at 8am just outside our apartment and we arrived there about 30+ minutes later. A bit of a wait to get in as the doors opened at 9am and then we picked up our audio guides.
The view from the front gates. All very ornate. Versailles was the home of the French monarchy for several hundred years until the revolution in 1789.
Lots of beautiful art inside but not much furniture. Apparently the revolutionaries removed it all when they overthrew the monarchy.
Perhaps the most famous room in the palace.... The Hall of Mirrors. Truly spectacular. Lots to see inside and our tour took about 2 hours. Then we headed outside for a few hours in the gardens.
Her Majesty Geraldine I and some flowers.
Geof, Casey, Jessie,Jane and Deen.
It was a fantastic trip. Well worth it and we all enjoyed it. And according to our driver not busy at all compared to last week.
Tomorrow Le Louvre.
